The January transfer window is always a time of significant rumour and possible major deals. Numerous notable stars are being connected to moves away from their current clubs. We examine some of the top figures that could be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to reach the AFCON, which has left the forward in contention, indications are a significant move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract with a £65 million release clause applicable for a short period in early January. Recent developments point to Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his signature. This England defender has continued to impress for Crystal Palace despite a summer transfer to Liverpool collapsing. Numerous elite sides, such as City and several European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a winter exit is considered unlikely, especially given the manager's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

The Welsh winger has had starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this campaign. Although finishing as the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has begun only a small number of league games. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the correct price, thought to be in the around £40 million. Bournemouth appear to be at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace additionally showing an interest.

Spurs value the Welsh international at approximately forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

This Portugal midfielder could be poised for a comeback to the Premier League following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Now just twenty-eight, and with his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential bargain. Teams like Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he is prepared to accept a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barcelona following the manager Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had surgery, a January departure looks highly probable. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a possible destination, but that move currently seems off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be expressing curiosity in the keeper.

The prolific English striker has continued scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League could boost his fading hopes of making the England World Cup. Because of FIFA regulations regarding playing for multiple teams in a campaign, a return to Liverpool before next season appears to be the sole viable solution.

The highly-rated Turkish forward is in fine form for Juventus this term. With his current contract running down, many Premier League sides – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the situation. The Turin club are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy agreement but face a battle to retain one of Europe's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Dutch midfielder has drawn comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ Alkmaar first team. The teenager is heavily expected to make a major move in January. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but are facing stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at around twenty-two million pounds.
